Utah Flour Milling, LLC Announces Flour Mill and Mix Facility in Richmond, Utah

Utah Flour Milling, LLC, a joint venture between PHM Brands LLC and Japan-based NIPPN Corp., has unveiled its plans for a new flour mill and custom mix facility in Richmond, Utah. The company aims to make a significant impact in the US milling market following NIPPN Corp.’s $25 million investment in Utah Flour Milling earlier this year.

Strategic Location and Partnership with Campbell Snacks

The $100 million flour mill and mix facility will be located adjacent to a Campbell Snacks baking plant in Richmond. This strategic partnership will primarily focus on supporting the production of popular products like Goldfish and Pepperidge Farm items. Gina Steffens, the CEO of PHM Brands, expressed excitement over securing a long-term supply agreement with Campbell Snacks, emphasizing the significance of critical partnerships with Campbell, NIPPN Corp., and Bratney Companies.

Panhandle Milling’s Expansion and Supplier Relationships

Peter Bisaccia, President of PHM Brands, sees the project as an exceptional opportunity for Panhandle Milling to expand its operational reach in the flour milling industry. Additionally, the company will establish valuable supplier relationships with local farmers in Utah and neighboring states. Bratney Companies will lead the equipment supply, engineering, and construction of this state-of-the-art facility, making it one of the most modern and technologically advanced flour mills in the region.

Advanced Flour Milling Facility with Multiple Certifications

The Richmond facility will boast impressive features, including more than one million bushels of grain storage and convenient access to major truck and railway routes. Its capabilities will support retail, foodservice, bulk rail and truck markets, private label production, and co-manufacturing. Moreover, the new flour mill will process various types of wheat, and it will be organic, non-GMO, kosher, halal, and GFSI-BRC certified, ensuring high-quality products for consumers.

Construction Timeline and Patented Biotechnology

Construction of the Utah flour mill will begin this summer, with the project slated for completion in the fall of 2024. The mill will have a daily flour production capacity ranging from 7,500 cwts to 15,000 cwts. Its cutting-edge technology will include patented pathogen-reduction biotechnology from Energis Solutions, a subsidiary of PHM Brands, ensuring safety and quality standards.

NIPPN Corp.’s Entrance into the US Flour Market

For NIPPN Corp., one of Japan’s “big four” flour millers, its partnership with PHM Brands and Panhandle Milling marks its first venture into the US flour market. The $25 million investment in Utah Flour Milling is expected to accelerate business growth and synergies among the group’s existing companies. With NIPPN’s long-standing reputation in the Japanese flour milling market, the company aims to make a significant impact in the US market through this strategic partnership.
